Let me recommend Jitsi as well. It's multi-protocol multi-platform chat
client that has both OTR (encrypted text) and ZRTP (encrypted voip)
functionality.

I'd be keen to hear comments from folks on this list about the tool,
especially from the developers who might be able to review the code.
if you are just keen to test it, let me know so we can connect and try it
out.
