[DATAGOV Core] Francqui chair in Hasselt - fyi

Thanks for everyone who chipped in with examples for my talk today. They have been incorporated 😉 (except for Meg’s point about the imprecise state, which is a super interesting one but didn’t fit into the narrative; same with the reference since it is not submitted yet)

And your suggestions helped also to restructure the talk to avoid overlap with others talks I am schedule to give in the same institution.

What this is about? I hold a chair at Hasselt U, a peripheral Belgian institution where Jo Pierson (whom Jonas knows well and is also a member of our EAB) has started a social science school—and they needed some “international” face to boost the initiative. My obligation is to give 5 talks there over this academic year—and I decided to use this chance to write up snippets of the DATAGOV research agenda. Now, of course this means I will talk from anecdotes and desk research rather than from empirics, but they were ok with that.

Attached you find the overview of the chair agenda (drawing extensively on the DATAGOV set up; lecture 1 was in September and was the opening of the academic year of the school, more for a non-academic audience, roughly same topics) and the write-up of my talk today.  I am writing to re-use later.
