Save the date — DATAGOV project kickoff (25–27 March 2025, Amsterdam)

Exiting news!!
Please save the date for the DATAGOV project kickoff on 25–27 March 2025 in Amsterdam (University of Amsterdam (UvA) and more).

DATAGOV is funded by the ERC and Stefania Milan of the University of Amsterdam is the PI.

The project explores regulatory data infrastructures: infrastructures that actively shape the polity, from monitoring and automated decision-making to mediating access to public services, rights, and welfare. Through a comparative lens across the EU, Brazil, India, and South Africa, the project unmasks the impact of regulatory data infrastructure on governance and charts the future of democracy amidst pervasive datafication. To start with, our empirical focus is on three technology families: biometrics, digital identity, and health technologies, and how these reconfigure citizenship, sovereignty, and inequality.

We are still shaping the programme, but you can expect an engaging and diverse mix of closed and public activities two days and evenings.

Expect a blend of workshops, keynotes, and performances, dinner and a party, with a diverse range of speakers and pariticipants from academia, civil society, art and more. Not overpacked, with plenty of time for conversation, (net)working and enjoying.
