[liberationtech] Would you like to put the list under permanent moderation?

My $0.02 on permanent moderation:
This list has a remarkably low signal to noise ratio compared to other
comparable mailing lists I subscribe to, mostly because of people posting
things that explicitly violate rules 3 and 5 (though also due to
threadjacking, as one can see illustrated in this particular thread!)
If violations were more rare, I wouldn't support permanent moderation. But,
I think with the current user base (and because this is an open list),
permanent moderation will be necessary to make subscribing to the list or
reading its archives useful.
Up until the handful of interesting threads in the past few weeks, I had
been considering unsubscribing for months. Permanent moderation & better
enforcement of posting guidelines will probably solve most of the problems
I had with it.
