[liberationtech] Tools for journalists

Christian,
Can you clarify a little?
Journalists generally don't distribute or disseminate content to their
audience from their mobile phones. They would send it to their
organization, which would be in charge of editorial control.
An exception would be their personal Twitter accounts. Then it's usually
down to whichever app they prefer.
Blackberry phones have been popular with many journalists for some time,
especially at the larger organizations, although many corporate IT
departments now support iPhone and Android.
As for the actual handset, just about all my colleagues carry personal
cell phones. Some will also have a second work phone, which might be
better locked down. That's really down to the organization and bureau.
I think email and voice remain the number way that most journalists
communicate while in the field. As for the networks, it's usually
cellular or, in hot spots, satellite phones.
I'm not sure this answers your question...
