*** Sheikh Jarrah Content Takedowns Reveal Pattern of Online
Restrictions in Palestine ***

Information about the eviction of Palestinians from an East Jerusalem
neighbourhood was systematically removed from social media. As
violence escalated in Jerusalem at the weekend, Facebook, Instagram
and Twitter were all accused of removing content or suspending
accounts that shared information about the neighbourhood where
Palestinian families are facing eviction from their homes.

The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies is on track to approve  a law that
threatens freedom of expression and the right to assemble and protest,

*** Myanmar Announces Ban on Satellite TV as Security Threat ***

Myanmar's junta-controlled media announced a ban on satellite
television receivers on Tuesday, saying outside broadcasts threatened
national security and threatened to jail anyone caught violating the
measure. With mobile internet access largely cut off in a bid to quell
anti-junta protests since the Feb. 1 coup, Myanmar has increasingly
appeared headed back to the state of isolation that preceded a decade
of democratic reforms.

*** Pakistan’s Revenge Porn Law Is Stronger than Most. For One Woman,
that Made no Difference ***

The country has passed some of the strongest laws against online abuse
in the world. But enforcing them is another story. A 19-year-old
survivor of image based violence shares her experience of dealing with
the law and the broken legal system as she struggles to have her
abuser arrested since 2019.

*** Germany Bans Facebook from Handling Whatsapp Data Over Privacy Concerns

Germany’s leading data protection regulator for Facebook has banned
the social network from using data from WhatsApp users. It follows
controversy of the messaging app’s latest privacy terms which the
authority believes are illegal. The move follows emergency discussions
in Hamburg after WhatsApp asked users to consent to the new terms or
stop using it. WhatsApp is used by almost 60 million users in Germany.

in a Test ***
