Tor's Community Portal has launched and is designed to help the huge
community that make Tor possible. The portal is divided into six
sections: training, outreach, onion services, localization, user

*** China to Impose Sweeping National Security Law in Hong Kong,
bypassing City’s Legislature ***

China's Communist Party will impose a sweeping national security law in
Hong Kong by fiat during the annual meeting of its top political body,
officials said Thursday, criminalizing "foreign interference" along with
secessionist activities and subversion of state power.

*** 44 Organizations Call for Ban on Biometric Mass Surveillance Apps ***

The European Digital Rights (EDRi) network of organizations has written
a set of fundamental rights demands for the European Commission and EU
Member States. They state that biometric mass surveillance systems
violate people’s privacy, fundamental freedoms and dignity, have a
discriminatory impact, a chilling effect on our freedoms of expression
and assembly, and put limits on our ability to participate in public,
social and democratic activities.

OTF Fellow Alexei Abrahams has published a report looking at social
media influence and manipulation in the MENA region, with special
attention to the infodemic of conspiracy theories surrounding COVID-19.

*** GreatFire Releases Envoy***

Envoy is an open source C and Java Library derived from Chromium Cronet
which can be used to make Android apps resistant to censorship. The
library can be integrated into existing Android apps, and allows your
Android apps to work in places like China, even if your website has been
blocked.
