*** NEW IFF Community Empowerment Program Now Accepting Applications ***

We are happy to announce the launch of IFF’s brand new Community
Empowerment Program, designed to support community builders working at
the intersection of human rights and technology.

We are currently looking for 10 individuals passionate about community
building, with a preference for individuals coming from frontline
communities and/or fields not well represented in the Internet Freedom
space.

*** Indonesia Blocks Internet in West Papua as Protest Rages ***

Indonesia has blocked Internet access in West Papua, following protests
triggered by the mistreatment and racial abuse of Papauan students last
week. Executive director of SAFEnet, Damar Juniarto, told Al Jazeera
that the Indonesian government could be violating the country's own laws.

*** OTF Launches the Community Prototype Fund ***

The Open Tech Fund has launched a new fund, The Community Prototype
Fund, which will support the rapid development of innovative but
relatively untested concepts that serve the immediate needs of the
Internet freedom and human rights communities. Funding will be up to
$6,000 USD for a maximum duration of 12 weeks. Applications will be
accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
