*** Kashmir Update: Diverse Pakistani Groups Condemn Internet & Comms
Blackout ***

Sixty-six women’s rights, human rights, digital rights and feminists
groups in Pakistan have endorsed a statement condemning the internet and
communications blackout in Kashmir. Currently, they are on the 24th day
of complete shutdown of communications.

*** Announcing Coffee & Circumvention: 9 Cities and Counting ***

We are happy to announce the launch of Coffee & Circumvention (C&C), a
monthly, community run and owned meetup that happens simultaneously in
various cities throughout the world on the third Thursday of every
month. The next gathering will take place on September 19 in nine
cities, including: Amsterdam, Abuja, Dublin, London, Ciudad de México,
Santiago de Chile, San Francisco, and Taipei.

C&C will bring together technologists, artists, journalists, citizens
and others interested in digital rights, online privacy and security,
and open technology. Topics and events will reflect the interests and
needs of the local communities. If you are interested in having your
city join, please reach out to sandy at internetfreedomfestival.org.  For
those of you that remember TA3M, C&C is a type of rebirth with more magick.

*** OkThanks Publish Exploratorium ***

After 8 months of research and studies, OkThanks has released
Exploratorium a compendium of resources to help projects get useful
feedback from users. Specifically, it features 12 activities that
projects can use to engage their community, build relationships and
gather more data to better identify their audience, and improve
usability, adoption, features, localization and more.

*** New Protest Tactics in Hong Kong ***

Security First has been compiling a list of new protest tactics being
used in Hong Kong. Among them, the use of Telegram for organizing, hand
signals for communication, umbrellas to block CCTV and facial
recognition technologies, and Apple Airdrop to anonymously pass
information, among others.
