*** IFF Fellowship Deadline: August 22 ***

The deadline to submit your application for the IFF Community
Development Fellows program is August 22. If you are passionate about
Internet Freedom and a have strong desire to build a more robust IF
community, we want to hear from you!

*** Mark your Calendar for the First Ever Glitter Meetup ***

We heard you! During the last IFF, many of you expressed the desire to
find a way to stay connected throughout the year to the community love
and knowledge. This Thursday, August 16, we will be hosting our first
ever Glitter Meetup on the IFF Mattermost Square @ 10am EST. Come with
questions, glitter memes, and more! This is also a great time to ask any
questions you may have about the fellowship! If you do not have a

*** The Botnet of Fraudulent Advertising in Iran ***

With the increasing popularity of smartphones in Iran, cyber criminals
have been using malicious apps to make money by undermining Iranian
users’ privacy and online security. Recently, malware PushIran.DL has in
effect created a major advertising botnet that is distributed and used
in various ways to exploits users.

*** The Story about the Longest Internet Shutdown in Africa ***

“Blacked Out: The Cameroon Internet Shutdown” is a documentary that
tells the story of Africa’s  longest internet shutdown. Hear from
activists, lawyers and citizens as they delve into what happened during
the 230 days between January 2017 to March 2018. An incredibly powerful
