Dear friends,

Send us your general updates, upcoming events and job openings to be
featured in the next edition of the IFF Weekly!

Here are the updates for May 8 – 12:

### News and Updates ###

** IFF Community Stories **
We’re excited to announce a new channel to share and amplify stories
from all of you! The IFF Community Stories Medium publication.

How to include your stories, old and new:

a) Soon to be or already published on Medium? Send us a link and we will
add it to the IFF Community Stories Publication;

b) No Medium account? Send us the text and we will format it to include
it on the IFF Community Stories Publication.

Here’s the link to the IFF Community Stories Medium publication:

** New IFF Community Coordinator **
Community engagement is at the heart of what we do, so we’re thrilled to
announce that Nick Farr has joined IFF as our Community Coordinator.
Nick has been a strong presence at conferences like the Chaos
Communications Congress and HOPE and a longtime activist with
Hackerspaces throughout the world.

We hope you’ll join us in welcoming him on board and sharing your ideas
for how to strengthen our growing community! In the coming weeks, he’ll
be reaching for your thoughts on our engagement efforts. As well, feel
free to send him your ideas and thoughts at
farr at internetfreedomfestival.org (GPG key: 8F57D42D)

** NEW: Community Spotlight **
Do you find it difficult to “pitch” yourself? Do descriptions of
imposter syndrome resonate with you? Do you ever find it odd how so many
amazing members of our community are not as well known as they deserve
to be? While many of us prefer to work in the background and let our
work take center stage, this can be a problem when we set out in search
of new opportunities.

If you’re considering a career change and would like to get your goals
and accomplishments out to a wider audience, let us know! We’re opening
up space in this newsletter to help the community get to know more about
you and the other amazing talented individuals in our space. We’re more
than happy to help you work on presenting yourself and your talents to
the community while connecting you with your next great career challenge.

** Mattermost Reminder **
Keep in touch with the IFF community in real-time throughout the year on
our Mattermost instance. Mattermost is an open-source communication tool
that we host to better protect the privacy of the community. If you know
Slack, you already know how to use Mattermost. It’s how we communicate
as a team as well as a great place to share ideas and discuss emerging
events.

We recently opened up an “IFF en Español” channel and are always on the
lookout for other ways we can help you find and connect with new friends
and collaborators.

If you’d like to join us on Mattermost, request an invite here:
