** Joint Statement for the release of Vietnamese Activist **

Viet Tan is circulating a joint statement calling for the release of a
Vietnamese activist. His name is Nguyen Van Hoa, 22 years old, a digital
security trainer, a citizen journalist, video-journalist for Radio Free
Asia. What's remarkable about him is he was the first person to fly a
drone to cover an environmental protest in Vietnam. Thanks to him iconic
footage of the protests went viral and helped create more awareness of
this serious issue. He is charged with article 88, "propaganda against
the State" and is facing up to 12 years in prison.

Freedom Day, May 4.

** Victory in Cameroon **

After 94 days of an internet shutdown that violated the human rights of
millions of people, the government of Cameroon restored internet access
in the Anglophone regions of the country on April 20th:

SHA2017 is an international non-profit outdoor hacker camp/conference.

volunteers from and around all facets of the international hacker
