I co-created TA3M Seattle, even though I live in King County outside
Seattle.
It is called "TA3M *Seattle*", not TA3M King County. TA3M Seattle was
mostly focused on Seattle issues from the start, there has not been
some shift from King County to Seattle over time.
Nobody from King County was interested, only people from downtown
Seattle, hard to get group started outside Capital Hill / U-District.
Most attendees live in City of Seattle and don't have cars to visit
rest of King County. Volunteering/Activism is a function of who is
involved and what they can do. For political involvement scope, TA3M
is mostly for Seattle since that's where the opportunities are and
where the people are.
There are ways to get involved with City of Seattle, and people are
doing it. Someone needs to find King County or Washington State ways
to get involved, and tell others on TA3M, so they can help. Ask the
people that currently organize the group to give a talk on King County
government involvement, and try to find more people from King County
to help.
AFAIK there is no CTAB equiv for King County. Someone should try to
get one started.
TA3M aside, many volunteer groups in Puget Sound suffer from
geographic distance and commuting issues.
PS: I wish there was an announce-only list like in the past, and
another place for discussions.
