Most computer hardware is PROPRIETARY
Google stuff is PROPRIETARY
Most Internet Service Providers available to most people are VERY PROPRIETARY

So, in that context, your comment seems to be moot. Just because something is PROPRIETARY doesn’t mean it’s EVIL INCARNATE. It may not be perfect, it certainly will have many flaws, some of them serious, but I bet and confirm in my personal experience that it also has many positives.
