[liberationtech] Call for Silicon Valley Volunteers: Countering Misinformation in Hybrid Warfare Settings.

[Expeditionary Volunteerism]

Leigh Anne Miller (Stanford MA '12) was asked to serve as the volunteer
coordinator for the U.S State Department's efforts to link volunteer talent
in Silicon Valley with front-line citizen activists, NGOs and journalists
in the Levant and Eastern Europe. This June, July, and August there is a
request is for volunteers from Silicon Valley (and beyond) with social
media skills, knowledge of research techniques, and other relevant tech
skills to travel to the Baltics, North Africa, and Northern Europe.
Front-line folks from the Ukraine and Syria/Iraq will meet us at our
embassies there, we will train them to effectively conduct reporting, to
conduct and distribute accurate reports on events, and to build their own
editorial voices. Then we will work side-by-side to prototype ways they can
put their work into the streams of public media. Specifically, they need
training in how to effectively use Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube (and
