NEED (SOCIAL) TECH SUPPORT?
Get help AND contribute to a handbook for community networking
The Open Technology Institute is looking for a few partners as we expand an
open-source set of tools and resources for community network organizers.
So far we have created how-to guides for:
● Networking and wireless basics
● Roof mounts and rooftop safety
● Installing and configuring mesh firmware
● Creating a local app server
● Getting people involved and co-designing a network
We want to create a more how-to guides with YOU for:
● Starting a community networking training program
● Needfinding with a community of potential users
● Co-creating acceptable use policies
● Making GIS maps of your network to understand social impact
● Fundraising and budgeting for a community network
● Measuring and diagnosing network health (using measurementlab.net)
OR
● Whatever social process YOU want to conduct
How it works:
We work with you to understand your goal and the issue you are trying to
address. Then we design a how-to guide and work with you to implement it.
We document the process
and improve the guide as we learn. We post the guide to GitHub and invite
others to contribute, adapt, and share.
