Confusingly, Google Talk's "off the record" option has NO relation to the end-to-end encrypted OTR that we know about. I am surprised that the chat history is still visible to users, though.

To use OTR with Google Talk, you need to use a 3rd-party program like the ones mentioned on http://otr.cypherpunks.ca/
