[liberationtech] Recent iOS privacy checks

For those of us unfamiliar with technical details, what are we to make 
of this? That apple computers are poor choices for those who value their 
privacy? Or are the options that puts some power in the user's hands, 
genuine efforts towards having educated users in control of their 
information?
