Dear all,
I wanted to share with you two initiatives that may be of interest for
those of you working on conflict-related issues.
A group of us have been discussing for a while how different
technology-enabled interventions can help peacebuilding practitioners do
their work. There's an increasing interest in this from practitioners, but
still not a huge amount of research on best practices. We are organizing a
conference to bring people together around this topic:
http://howtobuildpeace.com/ The conference will take place in April and
registrations are now open. We very much welcome your thoughts or comments
on this initiative.
In parallel, my colleague Michaela Ledesma and I have been curating a
database of projects that use technology for peacebuilding:
http://howtobuildpeace.com/db/ This project is a collaboration of the
International Peace Institute, Mercy Corps, the Human Data and Development
Initiative and YoLab. Our definitions are not perfect or final and we don't
claim to have all the initiatives out there (in fact, we're adding more
every day). But it's a good place to start and again we welcome your
comments.
Best,
Helena
