[liberationtech] Are the Syria Tracker instructions putting people at risk? was Re: Crisis Mapping Syria: Automated Data Mining & Crowdsourced Human Intelligence

I noticed this on their instructions page:
"1) If you are submitting reports via email, please go to
http://www.hushmail.com and sign up for an email address. From your
hushmail account, email us your report to
syriatracker at gmail.com<http://mce_host/admin/manage/syriatracker@gmail.com>
."
I assume I must be mistaken, but my impression is that unless you are
emailing from one hushmail account to another, you are essentially not
accomplishing anything to protect your security. Wouldn't they be just as
well off creating a burner gmail account, and possibly better off, since
the content would stay within the google infrastructure?
Hush used to offer a one-time use encrypted form to send anonymous
messages, but it appears that has been taken down?
Patrick can you put me in touch with the folks behind this project? I'd be
happy to speak with them, I have to say on first glance I am a little
concerned about their security instructions.
Cheers
Brian
