[liberationtech] New U.S. Copyright Regime July 1st

Hi Liberationtech,

It's been reported that US ISPs will begin spying on customers for alleged
copyright infringement:

elsewhere, especially c|net. The deal was coordinated by the Obama
Administration and involves a newly set up "Center for Copyright
Information."

Not much is available on how the spying will be implemented from a
technological standpoint, not even on this EFF page

http://www.copyrightinformation.org/faq - it appears the copyright owners
will look for IPs using p2p services and then ask ISPs to check their logs
- as copyright owners already do - but then ISPs will begin the graduated
punitive measures.

Does anyone know more about the technological measures in place for this
particular regime? For example, does anyone know if ISPs will perform
additional analysis of user traffic as a direct result of this agreement?
