Dear Liberation Tech Colleagues,

After a hiatus of several months, the Ethos Roundtable is reconvening,
and we are actively seeking folks to volunteer to be featured guests!

The Ethos Roundtable <http://ethosroundtable.blogspot.com/> is an
informal group of people who are interested in 1) measuring and
extending ethos, and 2) using technology for positive social change.
We meet once a month in the Boston, Massachusetts area for discussions
and presentations.

Our upcoming events will be scheduled for the late afternoon or early
evening, most likely on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in a location that is
accessible by public transit. Ethos Roundtable sessions are open to
all who are interested in the topic and willing to abide by the
principles of civil discourse. The types of participants around the
table vary considerably, and attendance ranges from ten to fifty
people. There is some possibility that the upcoming sessions will be
webcast live and videotaped for future cablecasts.

Ethos Roundtable featured guests have brought many different topics to
sessions; they range from abstract ideas to proposed projects to demos
of completed projects.

The ideal featured guest for the Ethos Roundtable is:

o Deeply involved in using information and communication
technologies for positive social change.

o Deeply interested in measuring and expanding ethos.

o Located in the greater Boston area, or willing to schedule a
slot as a guest presenter while traveling to the greater Boston area.

o Willing to give a brief presentation and lead a lively
discussion with a voluble, highly interactive group.

      o Friendly, articulate, spontaneous, funny.

The Ethos Roundtable is not - most emphatically not - a platform for
any of the following:

      o Sales pitches

      o Monologues

      o Rants

I would go so far as to say that PowerPoint presentations almost never
work well; we rarely have a featured guest get beyond the third slide,
because the group has too many questions and points for discussion to
sit through that sort of show.

If you are interested in being an Ethos Roundtable presenter this fall
or winter please email us off list to let us know what you have in
mind. Our addresses are <josh at swithin.com> and
<deborah_elizabeth_finn at post.harvard.edu>.

Many, many thanks from Deborah
