At Next2.us (http://www.next2.us) we are working on SMS and mobile web
application that automatically connects people together around common
location and topics of interest that may be of interest to you or your
colleagues.

Built for emerging markets, Next2 currently runs via SMS and mobile web in
USA, Kenya and Nigeria, although it can easily be adapted to other markets.
 Our focus is on helping small farmers. SMEs and members of informal
economy to connect and communicate but the technology can be adapted to
range of uses.

Next2 does two things.  First we enable organizations and individuals to
quickly setup and operate a cloud based, SMS information service without
the need to install or maintain hardware or software or purchase a SMS
shortcode.  An organization uses the Next2 web site to setup their name and
SMS keywords and keyword messages.  Consumers and customers can then send a
text message to the Next2 SMS shortcode to access the organization's
content by SMS.

Next2 also creates "geosocial' networks around common place and shared
topics of interest.  Anyone can signal what they have, want or would like
to talk about followed by a keyword or phrase and Next2 automatically
matches and exchanges content between user's without revealing a
subscriber's mobile phone number.  Subscribers can then direct text each
other using their Next2 identity (name).

Subscribers can start their account, set their location on a map, set a
sharing circle around their location and post both public and private
message match request by SMS.

Next2.us operates on Amazon's cloud infrastructure and we integrate the
service with a SMS short code or longcode via an API.
