I wanted to reach out to you in case you are interested in social
programming and getting units for it this quarter (or know a Stanford CS
student who might!). I run a non-profit called Mobilizing
Health<http://mobilizinghealth.org>and we've build a simple solution
to impact thousands of people in rural
areas access medical advice by a real doctor in their local area through SMS
text messaging. We are working internationally, currently in India, but are
looking for opportunities in other countries and even trying to start a
pilot here in the US. We are making a big name for ourselves with already
3,200 rural patients that have used our system to understand how serious is
their problem, what to do next, and where to go. With over $120,000 raised
to support our work, we are the only system out there that is built for
2-way SMS conversations through a single number, and we are using the
patient data for something even bigger: automatic symptom tracking.
If you are interested, please email me back and I'll send you more info and
we can meet up with our technical lead, David Groff (also a Stanford student
taking CS 192 this quarter). Our advisor is Terry Winograd - so sign up for
the class now before the add/drop deadline this Friday!
Thanks!
Cheers,
Pooja
