A meeting point between Arab activists and the Bay Area community

Francisco, 5th floor*

*Featuring live online presentations and discussion with:*
*Ahmed Mekkawy *- founder of Spirula Systems, which defended Egyptian
opposition websites from DDoS attacks (twitter @linuxawy)
                             *Rayan Al-Emine - *Lebanese activist, teacher
and former editor of Left Turn Magazine.
*Ahmed Ragab *- Egyptian revolutionary and journalist at Al Masry Al Youm

Join us in providing a public square connecting individuals from the Arab
World who are in the center of this historic moment and Bay Area citizens
who are passionate about understanding and contributing meaningfully to
movements in North Africa and the Middle East.

*Meedan *is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to the use of new
media for facilitating cross-cultural dialogue and knowledge-sharing between
Arabic and English. Its projects include contributing to an online platform
for translated Arab voices at http://egypt.alive.in, the provision of
translated Arab perspectives to news outlets such as The Economist and
Guardian, and a cross-language social network for religious scholars for the
Cambridge University Inter-faith Project.

*AROC * is a grassroots organization working to empower and organize the
local Arab community towards justice and self-determination for all.  AROC’s
main components are the Arab American Legal Services (AALS), Arab Youth
Organization (AYO), and campaign/political education work around
anti-discrimination and immigrant rights.
