You could try looking at some of Mathias Klang's work - his chapters in 'Human Rights in the DIgital Age' (particularly the one on civil disobedience) which he and Andrew Murray edited, or even his thesis 'Disruptive technology : effects of technology regulation on democracy', which you can find online at

I teach a course at the LSE with some overlap with yours - though it has a specifically legal perspective (jt's called 'Information Technology and the Law') and I always keep 5-10 minutes free at the beginning of each class to discuss the developments in the previous week. I didn't do that at first, but over the last year or so things have been happening so fast and in so many different ways that it has really become crucial, as well as something that the students have found particularly interesting.
