[liberationtech] obli App. for activists

Dear Friends,

A friend recently contacted me about a new free App. (www.mobli.com) he has
helped develop. It allows you to share picts & video from your iphone
(Android & BB coming soon) by uploading to a web side accessible to everyone
(not just your "friends"). What's particularly unique about the app is how
easily and quickly you can share information you've captured with a very
targeted channel. For example it could be as targeted as "Japan", "a city in
Japan", or a specific event.  Its kind of like a combination of Youtube and
Flicker,  where people can follow # tags, people, or subjects with video and
picts.

This could have some interesting applications for activists and researchers
in the field, uploading video (up to 10 min) straight from their phones that
can be shared (and re-posted) with a large community. Users can also choose
how much personal info is shared, with anonymity being an option (I can not
vouch for how secure it is - maybe something to test?).

Gil Eyal <gil at moblli.com> would be happy to personally speak with anyone who
needs assistance in figuring out how this could be useful for their causes.

Great talking to you today. I'm so happy to hear you're in San Francisco and
look forward to getting together next time I'm there!

As I mentioned, Mobli is a great platform that allows people to share their
point of view on the fly. As soon as someone takes a photo or a video, he
has the opportunity to tag them with the appropriate channels and they are
uploaded to our system in real time. I thought this could be a phenomenal
tool for social activists who are interested in capturing the things they
come across while doing their work. I know you're well connected in that
field.

Right now, we have an iPhone app that's very stable and has been in
operation.

weeks and will cross 2 million page views shortly. The traffic is growing
exponentially as people hear about the site.

Android and Blackberry apps will come out very shortly. I will send you an
