IBM SOCIAL COMPUTING GROUP SEEKS INTERN FOR DEVELOPING WORLD RESEARCH
The Social Computing Group at IBM Research in New York is seeking smart,
energetic students for
internships in summer 2011. Our group has been building and studying new
forms of social
software for over 10 years. Past intern projects have focused on topics such
as: social
visualization, task proxies, social networking, virtual worlds, and more.
Many have resulted in
publications in top conferences, patents, and new features in IBM products.
Our current focus is designing, building, and evaluating mobile social
applications for the
developing world, so students with interest and experience in related areas
are particularly
encouraged to apply. Applicants should be enrolled in a PhD program and have
experience in
computer science and/or human-computer interaction. Focus areas include
mobile telephony,
crowdsourcing, social media, social networks, microfinance, low literacy
UIs, and mobile
multimedia.
