Call for Applications: IWM Research Fellowships
Research Fellows (Information Warfare Monitor)

Citizen Lab, Munk School of Global Affairs, University of Toronto

Position Summary

The Information Warfare Monitor (a collaboration between the Citizen  
Lab, Munk School of Global Affairs and the SecDev Group) seeks  
applications for Research Fellows. These positions come as full-time  
stipend research fellowships at the Citizen Lab, Munk School of Global  
Affairs, University of Toronto.

The Information Warfare Monitor is an advanced research activity  
tracking the emergence of cyberspace as a strategic domain. We are an  
independent research effort. Our mission is to build and broaden the  
evidence base available to scholars, policy makers, and others.

Openings are available for candidates across two general subject  
matter tracks. Successful candidates will be rising scholars with a  
demonstrated record of research excellence in at least one of these  
areas. We highly encourage applications from candidates whose research  
experience spans both tracks.

Policy Track: Social science and / or legal analysis of laws and  
policies related to Internet censorship, information warfare, cyber  
security, and related topics.

Technical Track: Technical research on technologies and practices of  
Internet censorship,information warfare cyber espionage, cyber  
security and attacks (e.g. denial-of-service attacks, malware  
analysis, etc),  and related topics.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to ongoing collaborative and independent research with the  
goal of publication

Help plan and implement new projects and initiatives for the  
Information Warfare Monitor

Bring fresh perspectives, diligence, and creativity to the Information  
Warfare Monitor

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

Minimum Masters Degree (Phd preferred) in political science,  
international relations, sociology, law, information studies, computer  
science, engineering, or related field.

Minimum 5 years related experience.

Demonstrated research excellence with strong record of publications in  
at least one of the two subject matter tracks

Excellent written and oral communication skills
