*** Pinterest Establishes Legal Entity in Turkey To Comply With a
Controversial Social Media Law ***

Pinterest became the latest social media company to agree to set up a
legal entity in Turkey to comply with a controversial social media
law. The move means all social media platforms with more than 1
million users are now adhering to the law in order to continue
operating in the country.

*** Myanmar Security Forces Arrest Prominent Leader of Anti-Coup Campaign ***

Myanmar security forces on Thursday arrested one of the main leaders
of the campaign against the military. Leaders of Southeast Asian
neighbours, which have been trying to encourage talks between the
rival Myanmar sides, are due to meet in Indonesia on April 24 to
discuss the situation, Thai PBS World reported.

*** Am I FLoCed? A New Site to Test Google's Invasive Experiment ***

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has launched a new site that will
tell you whether your Chrome browser has been turned into a guinea pig
for Federated Learning of Cohorts or FLoC, Google’s latest targeted
advertising experiment. FLoC takes most of your browsing history in
Chrome, and analyzes it to assign you to a category or “cohort.” This
identification is then sent to any website you visit that requests it,
in essence telling them what kind of person Google thinks you are.

*** TechUp: AXIS Program in India, Philippines and Beyond ***

The IO Foundation (TIOF) is offering a free 3 month virtual engagement
program on democratising the use of digital security tools in India,
the Philippines and beyond. The program will take place through a
series of 3 workshops and discussion groups from April to June
2021.This program is open to anyone, regardless of skill-level or
technical capacity.

*** Internet Shutdowns and Elections Handbook, a Guide by Access Now ***

The new handbook, produced by Access Now, explains how internet
shutdowns undermine democractic elections and provides tips and
recommendations for key actors to navigate shutdowns and understand
and assess the extent to which an election taking place under a
shutdown is free and fair. It is aimed at election observers, people
on diplomatic missions, journalists, and human rights activists in
particular.

*** Why Embarking on Accessibility Work in the Digital Rights
Community is Important ***

As digital rights defenders, we need to be aware of how our work
intersects with disability activism, considering the role technology
plays in this community. Unfortunately, most technology-focused
activists aren’t as aware as they could be, and currently lack a
nuanced understanding of how disability issues and surveillance
intersect.

*** Open Tech Fund Continues Efforts to Support Core Infrastructure  ***

OTF launched the Core Infrastructure Fund (CIF) in 2015 to make sure
internet freedom tools run on secure internet infrastructure they can
rely on. As part of the revamp, OTF has simplified their intake
process, and while CIF will no longer have it's own application, it
still remains an important area of work for them. In this blog post
