*** Facebook Puts in Place the 20 People Who Can Overrule Mark
Zuckerberg ***

Facebook’s new Oversight Board will review decisions around content
takedowns. The members are accomplished professionals who are
independent of the company. This includes two amazing IFF community
members many of you know - Nighat Dad and Julie Owono.

*** Zoom Acquires Keybase ***

Zoom announced that it has acquired Keybase, a secure messaging and
file-sharing service. Zoom’s CEO, Eric Yuan, said the acquisition will
give customers a higher level of security.

*** Training Day: A Movie about Digital Rights in Africa ***

Training Day is a short film based on Paradigm Initiative’s 2019 Digital
Rights in Africa report, featuring the story of a young man whose quest
for work took an unexpected turn. The film will premiere on May 17, 2020

*** Freedom House’s Latest Report Warns of a “stunning democratic
breakdown” Across Central Europe, the Balkans, and Eurasia ***

The report’s findings show that a growing number of leaders in Central
and Eastern Europe have dropped the pretense that they play by the rules
of democracy. They openly attack democratic institutions and are working
to restrict individual freedoms.

Cross-Regional Convenings will bring together digital security trainers,
SAFETAG auditors, usability and accessibility experts, and tool
developers to map privacy and security tools being used by at-risk
organizations and to identify concrete ways that we can support
improvements to those tools. Apply before Friday, May 15.

*** Major ISPs in Spain are Blocking ‘womenonweb.org’ Website ***

The Women on Web website (womenonweb.org) providing support to women and
pregnant people has been blocked by various ISPs all over Spain. Recent
measurements indicate that it has been blocked since the end of January
2020 and is still blocked by the majority of the Spanish ISPs.
