*** Three New Online Courses for Investigative Journalists in Iran ***
Totem, the online platform that helps journalists and activists use
digital security and privacy tools and tactics more effectively in their
work, is releasing three new courses regarding investigative and citizen
journalism in Iran. These interactive courses will guide you through
discovery and verification of information posted on social media
platforms (Social Media research), the best ways to use the Internet to
collect data for stories (Desk research) and finally to the risks
attached to conducting field investigations in a repressive environment
(Field research).

*** Internews New UX Feedback Collection Guidebook ***
The UX Feedback Collection Guidebook aims to facilitate feedback loops
between users and tool developers by equipping digital security trainers
and other trusted facilitators with the skills and resources they need
to safely gather information around end-users’ needs, practices, and
operating environments; collect tool-specific feedback from at-risk
users; synthesize, prioritize, and structure information or feedback,
and share information or feedback with relevant developers or tool teams.

*** Lumen Looking for Ideas that Modern Technology Can Bring More
Freedom of Information and Media to North Korea ***
The goal of the online-based open call is to generate the best
innovative ideas for how to distribute information into North Korea. To
do so, they are turning to the power of crowdsourcing ideas from anyone
around the world. Submit your ideas in English or Korean before January
31st.

***ADC Launches a New Landing Page Dedicated to Face Recognition, as
Part of their Campaign in the City of Buenos Aires***
The website explains how face recognition technology works, the risks
and impacts it has on human rights and civil liberties. The listed
campaign "Not With My Face" ("Con mi cara no"), reports on how this
technology was implemented in the Buenos Aires subway system in April,
and its being copied by other cities.
