*** IFF’s Health Measures for COVID-19 ***

It is too early to tell what impact, if any, travel restrictions being
imposed by multiple countries in response to the outbreak of the novel
coronavirus (COVID-19) will have on the IFF. The IFF team, along with
our advisors and organizers of other international conferences, are
closely monitoring this rapidly developing situation. Check out the

*** Tor Project Village @ IFF Seeking Proposals  ***

The Tor Project is seeking proposals for their Tor Village, which will
take place during the last two days of the IFF, on April 23-24. They are
seeking proposals with activities on privacy, anonymity, and
anti-censorship based around the technology we build. (Note, IFF takes
place from April 20 - 24 in Valencia Spain)

The Call for Proposals for the Tor Village will be open from February 13
to March 10, 23:59 UTC. Apply or ask for more information by writing to:

*** Magma Guide has Been released! ***

Magma Guide is an open-licensed, collaborative repository that provides
the first publicly
available research framework for people working to measure information
controls and online censorship activities. In it, users can find the
resources they need to perform their research more effectively and
efficiently.

*** New Guide on how to create Digital Security Policies for Small
Organizations ***

OTF Digital Integrity Fellow Szeming worked over 12 months to improve
the digital security practices of two Southeast Asian human rights
organizations. In doing so, she not only created a digital security
policy for the organizations, but also a checklist for small
organizations to begin incorporating digital security best practices
into their day-to-day work.

*** Privacy International Investigates Data Leaks on Cheap Smartphones ***

New research by Privacy International shows that cheap smartphones come
with a hidden cost: pre-installed apps that can't be deleted and that
leak your data.
