*** 2019 Ranking Digital Rights Corporate Accountability ***

Check out the findings of the 2019 Ranking Digital Rights Corporate
Accountability Index, which evaluates 24 of the world’s most powerful
internet, mobile, and telecommunications companies on their disclosed
commitments and policies affecting freedom of expression and privacy of
internet users across the world. Notably, Microsoft ranks number one on
the index for disclosing more about their policies and practices than
its peers, while Deutsche Telekom was the only company to disclose
targeted advertising is off by default.

*** A Legal Case launched Against Saudi Arabia Accused of Using Spyware
to Hack London-Based Dissident ***

Saudi Arabia has been accused of launching a sophisticated hacking
attack against a prominent dissident in London, Ghanem Almasarir,
according to a letter of claim which was delivered to the Saudi embassy
in London on Tuesday. Almasarir alleges he was targeted with malware
developed by the Israeli surveillance company, the NSO group.

*** Mozilla has extended the deadline for Fellowship Global South
Engineering Track ***

If you are an engineer from the Global South, you still have time to
apply to Mozilla’s new track focusing on core internet infrastructure.
Apply before Thursday, May 30.
