*** How was the march of February 2nd in Venezuela: the key for change ***


Melanio Escobar writes about the situation in Venezuela and how its
citizen are changing the history of the country by filling the streets
of Caracas and marching against Maduro. Venezuela is in the middle of a
historical and political change pointed by weeks of social media
censorship and controversial political messages announcing a war that
never comes.

*** The Trade-Offs of A Successful Conference ***


The Internet Freedom Festival is not a fundraiser, or a part of our
public relations strategy. It’s a tool that requires the right
conditions to be effective. Pepe Borrás, our Executive Director, shares
his thoughts about the necessary trade-offs for a successful community
development project.

*** Facebook and Google offered teens and adults ***


TechCrunch reported last week that, since 2016, Facebook has been paying
users — some as young as 13 years old — up to $20 a month to install an
app called Facebook Research. The app could give Facebook access to
private messages, photos, videos, emails, web searches and browsing
activity, the tech news site reported.

*** Reminder: Check your IFF Ticket Status ***


Because this is the first year that we are implementing the IFF Ticket
system, we are asking all of you to check the status of your ticket
prior to booking your flight and accommodation.


To access the IFF you will need to provide your Ticket ID, found in the
IFF Ticket confirmation email, and on the IFF Ticket view on the IFF
Community Platform.


If you are still waiting to hear back from us regarding your ticket
request, we must share that it is very unlikely that you will be
receiving a ticket at this point (we wish we could you fit all of you in!).
