*** The IFF 2018 Dates Announced - Get Ready for Glitter!***

In case you missed it last week, the official dates for IFF 2018 are 
here! *Airhorn.*


 From March 5th to 9th, our community will be gathering at our Spanish 
home away from home, Las Naves in Valencia. We’re so excited to see you, 
give you a (consensual) hug, and cover you in glitter.

***Photojournalist charged with terrorism after taking pics of National 
Intelligence Building in Turkey*** On September 13, an Istanbul court 
formally charged Çağdaş Erdoğan with terrorism for taking a picture of a 
government building. The Committee to Protect Journalists has called 
upon the Turkish authorities for the immediate release of

***#StopRemovingIranianApps campaign challenges Apple***

Apple has been removing Iranian apps from the app store. In response, an 
anonymous group has started the #StopRemovingIranianApps campaign, since 
they believe this is unfair to the many talented Iranian developers. 
Currently, Apple iOS devices are actively used by 6 million people, with 
more than 11% of smartphones in Iran being iPhones. This makes Iran one 
of Apple’s biggest markets in the MENA region. The campaign has already 
garnered over 16k signatures.

***#Istanbul10: An elephant and two maps: inside the absurd logic of 
terrorism allegations in Turkey***Check out this informative piece by 
Frontline Defender’s Andrew Anderson on the current situation of the 
#Istanbul10.  The article includes evidence being used in court, which 
includes two drawings made during the workshop. Please keep on sending 
tweets and messages demanding the release of the #Istanbul10.

###Join the #inclusiveGIFProject###

The IFF, like many of you, ((loves)) to use GIFs. However, repositories 
like Giphy are not very inclusive. Take, for example, the term “gender 
equality”. The majority of images showcase only CIS women and men. 
Unfortunately, the inclusivity issue doesn’t end there. A search for 
terms like “women in tech” or “Internet Freedom” returns dismal results, 
as well. So, let’s mobilize folks! Upload your images directly to Giphy 
and use the hashtag #inclusiveGIFProject. Ping us on Twitter, so we can 
spread the love!! Why is this important? Because an internet 
representative of the diversity of the world is the foundation of the 
digital rights work we do.
