** Reports from the Council of Europe **

The study “Journalists under pressure” was launched last week at the
Council of Europe. The media release equally includes an interview with
the author, a video presentation of the study and its key findings and a
press release.

Also last week, the Council of Europe Secretary General’s shared a
report on the “State of democracy, human rights and the rule of law”.
The report includes a special insert presenting the study, and a big
chapter on Freedom of Expression.

** Proyecto: 25 menores de 25 **

¿Conoce usted a alguien con edades entre 13 y 25 años que le apasione
usar Internet para hacer la diferencia? ¡En ISOC queremos escuchar
acerca de esa persona! Podrían recibir un viaje a Los Ángeles y tener la
oportunidad de conectarse y colaborar con otros(as) jóvenes líderes
alrededor del mundo. Estamos buscando emprendedores(as). Agentes de
cambio social. Personas que marquen la diferencia en su comunidad y
necesitamos de su ayuda para encontrarlas. Las nominaciones pueden ser
personales o a nombre de terceros. No dude por favor en escribirnos en
caso que requiera alguna información adicional; estamos deseosos que la
juventud costarricense sea parte de este proyecto.

* Resistance Radio *

When: June 2-4, 2017

How can it be used to build and strengthen local and transnational
communities? How can it be used to penetrate prison walls and cross
national or cultural borders? In this three-day intensive, you will
learn the skills, tools and artistry of radio for community building and
activism. The workshop will cover how to establish a DIY radio station,
how to target and impact a community, and how to select the best format
to reach your community. Guests will share impactful storytelling,
interviewing and editing techniques and will discuss the artistry of
live and recorded broadcast. Participants will also learn about the
history of pirate radio and FCC regulations in the United States.


* Allied Media Conference *

When: June 15-18, 2017

A collaborative laboratory of media-based organizing strategies. The
Allied Media Conference is a collaboratively designed event. Conference
content is curated with care every year by 100+ volunteer coordinators
of tracks, practice spaces, and network gatherings. The conference
features over 300 hands-on workshops, panels, film screenings, Detroit
tours, art and music events, strategy sessions, karaoke, bowling,
collaborative art and more! The conference brings together a vibrant and
diverse community of people using media to incite change: filmmakers,
radio producers, technologists, youth organizers, writers,
entrepreneurs, musicians, dancers, and artists. We define "media" as
anything you use to communicate with the world. You are a media-maker!
