Hello Network Centric Resources Peeps,
Hope you are all having a lovely August.
For the last year, I’ve been working with with the good folks at 360Giving (http://www.threesixtygiving.org/) on developing a data champions network for community foundations. This has been a pilot program that has recently concluded and we are doing some reflections and planning for an expanded version of the initiative, building on the work of the pilot to create a network of data champions for all foundations in the UK. This has been a pilot program that has recently concluded and we reflected on what we’ve learned. What we’ve found is there is enormous benefit in convening space for peer learning to enhance abilities to understand need and deprivation within the communities they serve and increase the impact and effectiveness of their grantmaking.
I’ve just done a write up on this pilot and what we’ve learned from implementing a Data Champions initiative. You can find it here: http://www.fabriders.net/implementing-data-champions/
One of the things we’ve been experimenting with is developing a ‘Data Champions Resource Library’ - we are trying to get the Champions to share resources they find useful, but with a goal of connecting the champions and have another mechanism for connection and sharing learning. Ultimately it’s about filling the resource library with people and am curious if anyone else has taken a similar approach and might have some lessons to share.
Let me know,
Dirk
