Dear all
The event invitations are coming in, and here goes a modest proposal for the line-up.
We got lucky after all, since there is someone still available at short notice 😉 and we have more people we like who are not available now but will come next time.

Proposal for line-up/programme, without topics really (* indicates tentative)

day 1 workshop (Martin, Mirca, Rocco, Fernando, Cecilia, Mansi, Rob)… Jo (programme to be determined)
day 1 evening/art program: Martin Tironi (no news from Crosslucid? Either way, we could invite Fieke Jansen)

day 2 panel 1 (on challenges of governance by data infrastructure*) Mirca + Rocco + Fernando
day 2 panel 2 ( geographical perspective*) Cecilia + Mansi + Rob

If they come thru, we add Niels ten Oever (for panel 1) and and Marjolein Lanzig (panel 2), two UvA internals who are young in the profession, involved in advocacy, real trouble-makers, and great public speakers

Like this, we have a mix of senior academics (Fernando, Rocco, Mirca, Martin, Jo), junior (Niels, Cecilia, Fieke, Marjolein), and applied/ policy /advocacy (Mansi, Rob, Fernando who works for the ministry now, Marjolein who is at uni but also on the board of Bits of Freedom, the Dutch digital rights org). We have EU (Rocco, Rob, Marjolein), Brazil (Fernando), African continent (Cecilia), and India (Mansi), and a mix of tech: edu (Fernando), biometrics (Cecilia), health (Mansi?), digital id (Mirca)

Not bad.

For tomorrow check in at 9.30: let’s keep it to the minimum. We are 8, so if we stay within 5’ each, that makes 40’, 5’ with late start and other matters 😉
Please prepare a few points to the following:

  *
What I did
  *
What am I doing
  *
What I need help with (optional)

We have a full day together on Thursday, so let’s keep the substance for then.
See ya!

Ps. I sometimes write mails at odd times (but also go skating during office hours). I want to make clear that there is no expectation that you work outside office hours or on weekends. And if I can make a suggestion: no work mails on your phone, it is liberating!, and I can be sure I don’t disturb your sofa time with the beep of a new email. Thanks for your understanding
