Lulu, you inspired me to introduce the New York City crew :) AND I love
that you folks have joined!!!!

The NYC crew is made up of the following amazing humans:

Catie Wilkinson
I've met Catie through the Calyx Institute, one of the most genuinely
respected entities in NYC. The founder, Nick Merrill, was the first
person to file a constitutional challenge against the National Security
Letters statute in the USA PATRIOT Act and consequently the first person
to have a National Security Letter gag order completely lifted.

Catie, has taken the brunt of organizing the NYC Coffee chapter with the
passion and sharpness that has been quite beautiful to witness. She is
the membership coordinator at Calyx, and through it she helps numerous
NYC movements, organizations and people. It goes without saying that she
has been an incredible resource for our community. Previously she worked
at Habitat for Humanity, which builds homes for vulnerable populations.
I can't even begin to tell you what an amazing addition she has been to
the NYC internet freedom community.

Idalin Bobe
Idalin Bobe is a force of nature. She is the founder of
TechActivist.org, a grassroot organization providing free technical
training and political education workshops to working-class youth,
activists, and disruptors interested in using technology for social
good. She is also one of the main organizers of Tech Intersections, a
conference for women of color in tech. Previously at Thoughtworks she
was an IT Consultant and their Social Justice Lead. Also, she was part
of the Startup Team at Black Girls Code. I could write three pages about
Idalin. For me, however, what truly stands out is how her work is
opening doors for US Latinas and other women of color. To give you an
idea of how incredibly difficult this is, in 2017 US latinas made up 1%
percent of the computing workforce. Some how, she is doing it
effectively and with so much heart and style!!!!

Old Schoolers
I haven't gotten permission yet to post about some of the Old Schoolers
who are helping out, but I'm just gonna say we are SOOO lucky to have
such as supportive group in NY, and so diverse. We truly have an
interdisciplinary group!!!!!! Once I get their permission I'll post more
of the names.

Myself, Sandy Ordonez
While Im with the IFF, I'm joining this group as a native New Yorker,
who is incredibly angry at the increase in surveillance the immigrant
communities I grew up in are going through. I'm hoping the NYC chapter
can shed more light on this, and help mobilize more folks to help.

Y'all should take a minute to introduce your city, if it hasn't been
already introduced, or at a minimum yourself!!! :)
