Hello Session Designers,

As we gear up for the final months of 2022, I realise that many of you are currently planning upcoming workshops and training sessions, I thought I'd compile the facilitation resources you all have contribute in one form or another:
Tips for designing an effective workshop session - this covers design essentials, from adult learning theory to formats that work. See: https://www.fabriders.net/session-design-tips/ <https://www.fabriders.net/session-design-tips/>
The Session Design Canvas - A worksheet for planning out your session that was co-created with a gifted group of facilitators. The first page helps out with prep and the second page helps with sequencing and following the ADIDS format see: https://www.fabriders.net/canvas-v1/ <https://www.fabriders.net/canvas-v1/>
Hybrids vs IRL vs Virtual - pros and cons on the different formats, along with some suggestions on approaching hybrids. https://www.fabriders.net/virtual-vs-irl-vs-hybrid/ <https://www.fabriders.net/virtual-vs-irl-vs-hybrid/>
Not to mention the two day workshop that brings all of the above together that you’ve participate in, the next one will be our 12th and we’ve had more than 200 paricipants thus far.
The Session Design Lab - online on September 28th and 29th from 14:00 to 17:00 UTC - https://www.fabriders.net/session-design-lab/ <https://www.fabriders.net/session-design-lab/>
note that anyone who can't afford the registration fee can 'Apply for a Scholarship' at the bottom of the page.
And for teams working together to focus on critical elements and make essential plans for an upcoming event, we offer.
The Event Design Lab - this lab is designed with you and your team to meet your specific needs and goals and is scheduled based on your team's availability. For more details and how to inquire, see: https://www.fabriders.net/event-design-lab/ <https://www.fabriders.net/event-design-lab/>
You can find all of the above PLUS other workshops that FabRiders offers at: https://www.fabriders.net/workshop-offerings/ <https://www.fabriders.net/workshop-offerings/>.

And again HUGE appreciation to everyone who has contributed or shared expertise on facilitation via the labs or buy contributing to the resources above. We’ve also shared ADIDS and Adult Learning Research with thousands of facilitators via coaching sessions for MozFest and RightsCon and it’s been having a huge impact. Facilitation skills are absolutely key for any rights, justice and movement building work to success and this is why we continue to share and spread skills.

If anyone has a burning challenge they’d like to put to the wider group, don’t forget about posting question to this list along with your successes and lessons learned. They are much appreciated. I’m also happy to organise an online discussion for anyone who wants to put brains to use.

Also note that FabRiders offers free one-hour consultations for anyone who wants to talk about facilitation challenges they may have AND of course, if anyone has an idea around collaborating on a workshop or future event. Please get in touch.

Best,

Dirk
