Dear Community Members,

We are pleased to invite you to an important session at RightsCon on *February
26, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM PKT* titled: *"Generative AI and its
Impact on Democracy in Authoritarian Regimes"*

Generative AI (GenAI) is changing the way we create content and interact
with technology. While it offers great opportunities for empowerment, it
also presents risks, especially in countries with authoritarian regimes.
During this session, we’ll look at how GenAI can both help and harm
democratic movements.
What we’ll cover:

   - *Overview of GenAI*: Learn about GenAI technologies and how they’re
   used.
   - *Impact on Authoritarian Regimes*: How these regimes use GenAI for
   control, surveillance, and spreading propaganda.
   - *Support for Democracy*: How GenAI can strengthen democratic efforts
   and transparency.
   - *Challenges*: Ethical and practical issues in using GenAI in
   authoritarian contexts.
   - *Recommendations*: Ideas for policymakers and activists on using GenAI
   to promote democracy and human rights.

This session is hosted by *Innovation for Change (I4C)* and promises to
provide insightful perspectives and practical takeaways for navigating the
complexities of GenAI in authoritarian environments.
