Agreed, though that appears to be changing:

This is an excellent follow up. Thank you. I will bring up to the topic with the
folks in Hong Kong and pose these questions to them as well.
Dear Yosem:  You are most welcome of course....   I would like to acknowledge
being in receipt of Paul Swider's note on the matter also, which makes me desire
to share the following heartfelt thought with you both, and with the membership.

Over the last two years, I have been in conversations with friends and
colleagues in Hong Kong, in relation to many of the developments there.  During
that time, we have attempted to mutually explore, "what" it is that "the people
of Hong Kong desire".   The constituting elements "of the reality on the ground"
has remained difficult for many to make visible and negotiate.  Despite the vast
numbers of impressive, strong-willed, dedicated and resilient Hong Kongers seen
around the world protesting this past year, where many of them had identified
with fellow residents desiring independence/self-governance, an expressed,
cogent and cohesive political and social direction for the residents of HK
remains absent.

Consequentially, the world - it seems, has found it difficult to soulfully
connect with the plight of HK rightly, and to offer meaningful support.

I receive and interpret Paul Swider's message through the lens of a specific
context, and factuality, which is confirmed by experience.  That is: technology
becomes meaningful, and a success, when it has the opportunity to meet and wed
'a grand purpose', and is able to encourage and facilitate in the fulfillment of
such a purpose.

Warm regards.
