Farewell to a friend and a leader.
I knew Michel in the decade of 2000, through the cireresearch list. After
many e-mails we finally met in person in Brazil, in 2012 and after that in
India, in 2015. He went up from São Paulo city to Marília city ( 400 km)
just to meet me! He collaborated with my events, he supported me, he guided
and inspired my work, he kicked my bottom when I was stupid. Thousands
around the world like me will treasure Mike's teachings, and miss his
presence, intelligence, wiseness and courage.
This world needs many more Michaels Gurstein. Hope we all be able to carry
on with his fight in the pursuit of information technologies that liberate
and join, instead of controlling and polarizing.
Thanks Mike and rest in peace, as you made of this planet something better
with you ideas and actions. You inspired and gave hope to many of us. My
sentiments to the family; hope you find consolation in knowing that his
legacy will remain world-wide forever.
