In the sense that it's federated, yes. But unlike Diaspora it's a
real-time chat system similar to Slack. (Well, most existing UIs
present it that way - in reality it's a protocol for sending arbitrary
JSON between clients in a room in real time, and persisting that data
for later retrieval.)
