Harvard University is launching a program in the Spring of 2017 called
the Berkman Klein Assembly, which gathers high-level developers and
tech industry professionals for a rigorous three-week course at
Harvard University, followed by a twelve-week collaborative
development period to explore solving hard problems with code.
Jonathan Zittrain, director of the Berkman Center for Internet &
Society and Joi Ito, director of the MIT Media Lab will be leading the
Assembly.
Over the course of 15 weeks a small cohort of makers and developers
will grapple with the future of digital security. The challenge is
this: how do we move beyond a world where virtually every computing
device and network is insecure?
I am reaching out to you because I think the perspectives from those
who work for the CS+ Social Good Community would be an invaluable
resource to add to the program. I also believe that the experience,
friendships, and new skills learned would not only give back to each
individual, but extend into the lives of those you are creating for.
As someone who believes computer science has the opportunity to
create a better world, I am hoping scientists from your community who
are already invested in these issues would be interested in attending.
This is an opportunity to enable entrepreneurs to create things that
should exist.
If you know creators and makers who want to build things and help
shape the future of security, we would appreciate you encouraging them
to apply to the Berkman Klein Assembly to help shape the future of
security.
Applications close July 25th, and they can apply here:

If you know of any other groups or leaders who may be of interested,
please don't hesitate to forward this email to them or let us know!
Thank you for your help and please reach out to me for any further questions.
Best,
Chessy Cantrell
