As you probably already know, this past Tuesday, a federal judge in
Riverside, California, ordered

Apple
to help the government unlock and decrypt the iPhone 5C used by Syed Rizwan
Farook, one of the alleged San Bernardino attackers.

On Monday, we'll be hosting a short 1-hour briefing to help social justice
leaders and advocates understanding the ruling and its implications for our
movements and our folks. Hope you will be able to join us, we've got an
impressive roundtable. Please RSVP

*Background:*
On Tuesday, a federal judge in Riverside, California, ordered
<https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/2714001-SB-Shooter-Order-Compelling-Apple-Asst-iPhone.html>
Apple
to help the government unlock and decrypt the iPhone 5C used by Syed Rizwan
Farook, one of the alleged San Bernardino attackers.

Specifically, the government has compelled a technology company to 'assist'
law enforcement by designing custom software that would disable security
features on the phone to allow FBI access - and the ramifications of such a
precedent could be tremendous.

Technology, social justice and legal partners have come together to deliver
a phone briefing on this ruling that helps social justice activists,
technologists and others better understand what has happened, what it
means, what will happen next, and what we can do.
