All software has bugs, encryption and security software included.

Yes, encryption software is used by human rights activists inside totalitarian regimes. That is a common use case for them (the encryption part is working just fine btw).

This timestamp bug is a bug that cannot even exist in other software because no other software (that I'm aware of) goes to the lengths that Espionage does to provide plausible deniability.

And yes, I have no idea why this broke. And I will continue to have no idea why this broke until I decide it is time to stop replying to trolls and look at the code. :P
