Advox submitted the following proposal:
*Threatened Voices: Tracking victims of online repression*
Threatened Voices (TV) is a unique collaborative mapping project by Global
Voices Advocacy to build a database of online people who are threatened,
arrested or killed for speaking out online and to draw attention to
campaigns that highlight their cause. We are building a database that is of
use for international advocacy. We are collaborating with Amnesty, CPJ,
UNESCO, Media Legal Defense Initia, and other international and local
partners. We are also building a methodology that meshes with other human
rights reporting standards. This project aspires to become a reliable
resource on the violation of the right to freedom of expression online that
can be used by researchers, advocates and activists internationally.
We hope we can count on the support of this community. We truly believe
that if successful, this can become a powerful tool for activists and
researchers alike.
Cheers,
Hisham
