field of international law to Steven

Mr. Smith is one of the world's leading international arbitration attorneys
and a 1983 graduate of Berkeley Law School and the founder of the *Berkeley
Journal of International Law*.


*This event is free for students.*



Over his thirty-year career in international law, Mr. Smith has served as
co-chair of the American Bar Association's International Arbitration
Committee, a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration in Paris, France,
and chairs the ICC's Arbitration Committee for the Northwest U.S. He is
also an honorary member of the Commercial Bar Association of London and a
former chair of the International Law Section of the State Bar of
California. A partner at the law firm Jones Day in San Francisco, Mr.
Smith teaches and publishes extensively on international commercial
arbitration and litigation.
